The ever first found signs of depression date back to Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Hippocrates was the first physician to ever clinically described the symptoms of depression. With behaviors that surround fear, discontent, and hatred, theories of psychological imbalance were documented. The first antidepressants were created in the 1950’s. However, many of these had side effects leading to more vast improvements and a growing acceptance in society by the 1990’s.
