Healthy blood flow carries oxygen, nutrients and disease-fighting immune cells throughout your body. Poor circulation, due to fatty plaques and blood clots can slow healing and raise your risk of heart disease, a heart attack or stroke.
I’m very familiar with this topic because about a year ago my father had a stroke – so improving his blood flow was our #1 priority.
Now there are many ways of improving your blood flow and circulation, but today I’m going to focus on the natural ways and more specifically, through food and herbs.
The Correct Diet
As the saying goes, “you are what you eat”.
So the first thing to do is reduce or eliminate animal protein and animal fat. You should also reduce your sugar intake because high insulin levels corrodes your arteries and blood vessels.
You should focus on eating more natural whole grains, sweet potatoes, fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish and nuts.
And don’t forget the water… drink lots and lots of purified water to increase your blood flow and volume.
You should also eliminate all caffeine beverages because caffeine constricts your blood vessels and also increases the stress hormone, cortisol.
3 Best Foods
There are lots of foods that can slightly help increase blood flow, but the the follow 3 are by far the best and most effective.
Garlic is a natural blood thinner that can improve blood flow to your limbs. The ideal dose would be 2 to 4 grams of fresh, minced garlic cloves per day… Or about 1000 mgs of garlic extract daily.
Adding fish to your weekly diet gives you essential omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA. This healthy fat helps to lower unhealthy fats called triglycerides in the blood, reduce blood pressure, thin the blood and reduce your risk of blood clots. Good sources of DHA are fatty fish such as salmon, trout, herring, sardines and albacore tuna.
Try to eat 2-3 servings of fish weekly or about 1-2 grams of fish oil daily.
Cayenne pepper works wonders in boosting blood circulation and heart health, if taken on a daily basis. Available as dried spice and pepper, cayenne increases metabolism and strengthens blood vessels and arteries.
If you want faster results, there are natural supplements and herbs that are super powerful and far more affective than foods at improving your blood flow and that’s what I want to discuss next.
All Natural Supplements
- Herbs, Amino Acids, Vitamins & Minerals
Nature always has the answers and because of this you rarely need prescription drugs … certainly NOT for long-term health solutions.
When trying to find natural options for my parents, I did a LOT of research and tested numerous supplements before I finally discovered some of the best ingredients and combinations and that’s what I’m going to share with you today.
Vitamins & Minerals
Vitamin C, D3, K2-7 and E are the most important vitamins.
Calcium and especially a magnesium blend (Magnesium Glycinate Chelate, Magnesium Citrate, Magnesium Aspartate, Magnesium Oxide) are the most important minerals.
Next are amino acids. The best ones are different forms of L-Carnitine. The 3 most effective ones being:
- Acetyl L-Carnitine
- L-Carnitine Fumarate
- Glycine Propinyl L-Carnitine (GPLC)
Finally, we have a few very powerful herbal extracts, the best ones being:
- Grape Seed Extract
- Pine Bark Extract Pycno.genol®
- Green Tea Extract
- White Willow Extract
- Nattokinase NSK-SD®
