🥗🥩 Who Has Higher Testosterone – Vegans or Omnivores (2024 clinical study)

I’ve done lots of articles about the importance of testosterone and more importantly, about having optimal balance and levels of your hormones.

This means, higher “positive” hormones, such as:

  • Total and free testosterone levels
  • Growth hormone
  • Thyroid hormones

While having lower, “negative” hormones such as:

  • Female hormones like estrogen and prolactin
  • Stress hormones like cortisol
  • Dihydrotestosterone – which can cause hair loss and prostate problems

In fact, this is why I created AlphaViril over 20 years ago and why it’s still one of the best-performing, hormone optimization solutions for guys in 2024.

Are Vegans Better Than Omnivores?

However, today’s topic is about Vegans vs Omnivores – who have higher testosterone levels.

More importantly, who has better hormone levels and balance?

Even more so, who performs the best?

And I’ve been asked by a bunch of guys regarding ONE study that had 3 groups of people1

  • 237 vegetarians
  • 233 vegans
  • 226 omnivores

This was in the British Journal of Cancer Study in 2000, over 20 years ago.

They concluded that “Vegans had 13% higher testosterone levels than meat-eaters and 8% higher than vegetarians.”

vegan testosterone

Based on this, Vegans clearly win and Omnivores lose!

And when I was doing research about this, every pro-Vegan site was referencing this same, ONE study.

And they continue to say how being a Vegan is awesome and everything about it is the best for your health, performance, how you look, live, and so on and so forth.

Of course, then you go to the meat-eater websites and they say the opposite. The carnivore diet is the greatest and you’ll be Superman and so forth.

omnivore testosterone

Basically, everyone has their own, silly bias.

NOTHING scientific about it. All are emotional-based to validate their belief and values.

That is WRONG in my opinion. It’s misleading. It’s deceptive and deceitful.

But then again, none of these people are true scientists. They’re just regular people expressing their opinions.

Who Has Better Hormones?

Now, if you go back to this ONE original study, the Vegans did have 13% higher testosterone.

However, they also had higher SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin).

This means that the extra testosterone was bound and not “free” to go do its job.

Yes, you want higher testosterone, but more importantly, you want higher FREE testosterone levels.

free testosterone

Think of your testosterone as your TOTAL REVENUE and your free testosterone as your NET INCOME – after taxes and expenses.

The money that you can actually spend.

Higher revenue and testosterone is great, but higher NET profit and FREE testosterone are better.

The bottom line is that all 3 groups had similar free testosterone, androstanediol, and LH levels.

It all balanced out at the end.

However, the Vegan group did have lower IGF levels, which could mean they may live longer. However, it also means they’ll have less muscle mass.

There was another study in 1990 that did a similar experiment.2 Male vegans vs omnivores.

It was a smaller study. It showed that Vegans had 7% higher testosterone levels, but also had 23% higher SHBG and had 3% LOWER free testosterone, and worst of all, had 11% higher estradiol levels.

Thus, the final hormonal balance in the vegans was worse than the omnivores.

But the bottom line is that all of this showed very little difference in the big picture.

The numbers all equaled out in the end.

Bottomline

So what’s the best diet for improving testosterone levels?… it’s whatever diet that you like and will enjoy and want to eat.

diet for testosterone

It’s the one that makes you look and feel good, month after month, year after year, DECADE after DECADE.

Never judge anything for just a few weeks or months.

I’ve known vegans who loved the diet and couldn’t stop talking about it. Yet, 6 months or a year or even two years later, they stopped. Their performance dropped.

But some thrive on it.

We are all different, you just need to listen to YOUR body.

However, I’m going to give you 3 important suggestions.

  • If you’re going to eat meat, make sure to eat healthy meat. Not processed junk. Get grass-fed and free-range and pasteurized and wild-caught and so forth.
  • If you’re going to be a vegan, stay away or limit tofu and soy products. Make sure you take a good, B-complex supplement.
  • Most importantly, both groups need to have at least 25% of their diet from healthy fats. Extra virgin olive oil, some coconut oil, avocados, omega fats (fish or plant-based), and raw nuts.

And my most valuable and best suggestion is to take AlphaViril daily – regardless of your diet. Vegans, vegetarians, omnivores, carnivores, keto, and so forth.

It will optimize your testosterone levels and improve and balance your youth hormones.

AND, it’s Vegan, Non-GMO, and Clinically Validated!

And don’t forget, there are lots of other factors that affect your hormones. So make sure you read my blog regularly because I cover all of the testosterone-boosting tactics and will continue to do so.
