For over 25 years, Iâve been heavily focused on the body and how to optimize it for performance, and longevity and maximize our potential.
However, about 15 years ago I started to really focus a lot more on not just the body, but the MIND.
I realized just how the two are so interconnected and that they canât be separated. Almost like Siamese twins.
Now, as some of you may know – one of my areas of expertise is endocrinology, which is the study of hormones.
I firmly believe that the way we look and feel is very much dictated by all of our hormones – including enzymes, neurotransmitters, and all the various other âstuffâ that dictate what happens to our hormones and thus, turn some of our genes âonâ or âoffâ.
And I mention this because of todayâs topic – anxiety.
Most people think anxiety is a âgeneticâ thing, but itâs NOT!Â
Itâs caused by hormonal & chemical imbalances.
Anxiety can be caused by what you THINK about and thus, what you focus on.
And it can also be triggered by what you FEEL and thus, what you do with your body.
And Iâm here to tell you that almost 99% of all anxiety is literally caused by what you DO, THINK or FEEL because it all affects your hormones,… enzymes, neurotransmitters, and so forth.
So let me give you 3 clinically proven ways to fix all of this to help erase your anxiety.
What You THINK About
In life, what you focus on, youâll get more of.
So if you focus on the bad ⊠on pain from your past,… worry about your future,… or about what you donât have, ⊠or all the âshouldsâ in your life – youâll negatively change your hormones due to stress and youâll quickly have panic and anxiety.
And this isnât normal by the way⊠This is a LEARNED behavior.
So itâs probably not your fault that you âstressâ or have âanxietyâ more than youâd like.
Itâs something you picked up from one of your parents or other people close to you when you were growing up.
Now, in order to help fix this and improve your hormones – you need to spend 90% of your time focusing on the SOLUTION and only 10% on the âproblemâ.
If you want to bitch and complain,… get angry and blame the whole world for something bad thatâs happened to you — go ahead. Get it out.
But only spend 5-10% of your energy on this âproblemâ and instead, focus the rest of your time on how to âfixâ the situation.
Unfortunately, most people do the opposite and keep complaining every day, to every person they can ⊠and all this does is keep increasing your stress hormones and the anxiety never leaves.
By focusing on the solution⊠and more importantly, by having an âattitude of gratitudeâ, your stress hormones will all come back down and immediately, youâll feel more in control, youâll have less worry and all of this leads to less anxiety.
Of course, this isnât going to be easy at first. You have to undo the years of âbadâ habits.
However, just keep at it daily and those âpositiveâ muscles will get stronger.
For example, instead of saying, âWhy does this always happen to meâ…
Instead, change your focus and ask, âWhat else could this mean?… what can I learn from this situation?â.
Your focus will now change to something positive and your anxiety will not come out as much because youâll have better hormones.
Like I said, this takes a little bit of time and practice. However, if you want quick results, there are two things you can do.
Exercise
As far as exercise, just MOVE!…
Listen to your favorite songs, go dance, get goofy, go for a walk outside, lift weights, go for a hike, have sex ⊠just go MOVE and do something physical.
This will instantly change your hormones your anxiety will disappear and your mood will quickly improve.
Remember, “motion creates emotion”!
